Anything interesting come up when you search animals on Google?

For me, skates (cartilaginous fish) and drills (monkey) can be hard to search without qualifiers because of the objects of the same name.

While I'm doing research for my book on Japanese zoos and aquariums, Googling the katakana names of animals can be interesting. There are some fish whose names are the same as plants.

Also, searching the potto's katakana name yields articles on the genocidal dictator Pol Pot.

I found out (accidentally) that Google searches for "sperm whale", "naked mole rat", and "great tit" are all blocked on school computers. I tried to do reports on all of these animals at various times without even thinking that their names might cause problems before it was too late.

Canada Goose causes the clothing company to come up, Kiyi comes up with a character from the Avatar: TLA comics, and Bloater comes up with just about everything except Coregonus hoyi.

If you search "kiwi" it will come up as the fruit. A general search of "python" brings up the programming language.

Searching for "tamarin" on google produces a videogame, the tamarind fruit and a laxative pill / medication.

“Saiga” comes up as both the antelope, and a type of shotgun.

“Aye Aye” comes up as both the lemur, and the pirate catchphrase.

“Flamingo” comes up as the bird and a lot of casinos, hotels, and body care brands.

Searching "Olm" produces a Catholic American private / boarding school in Rio de Janeiro called "Our Lady of Mercy", a Japanese animation company / film studio and several shady looking real estate companies.

If you key 'cricket' or 'bat', the answer may not be zoological

Barbirusa produces some curious results :

An Australian heavy metal "deathcore" band with hits like "dehumanized", "demolisher" and "defiler".

A brand of pale ale by the same name.

Barbie dolls.

A suggestion for "Operation Barbarossa" , the codename for the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union.

Found a few more,
"Springbok" brings up the antelope, the South African rugby team, a town, and jigsaw puzzles among others.
"Jaguar" brings up the big cat and the car brand.
"Nautilus" brings up the cephalopod, a science magazine brand, and a network of fitness brands.
"Bonobo" brings up the ape and a British pop singer.
"Zorro" brings up the fox and the famous character.

For reference a Salamnder fish is an endangered and extremely unique species of fish endemic to North West Australia where there is not much water.

"Nautilus" brings up the cephalopod, a science magazine brand, and a network of fitness brands.

I love that magazine! They produce some really well written and thought provoking online articles.

Here's one where Google comes up with an animal, but the wrong one! A search for "Orange Tiger" comes up with a liquor and Panthera tigris, but not Dryadula phaetusa.

I know that this has been said before, but I just find it so strange that every single selection of google search Comes up with the Jaguar brand, and the animal isn't talked upon until you move a few pages. All, Images, News, Maps, and Videos all come up with something that isn't the Jaguar animal.

When I search camel, the first things that appear on the web are:

• A Rock Band
• A Tobacco Brand

And a website not related to camels at all.

It is so funny that even common animals have so unrelated results in the web while searching.

I know, its pretty unbelievable. And to me, who is an animal nerd, I can't believe that the Jaguar car is more popular than the cat. Despicable!
