Advice on driving to Manchester Museum

Next month I plan a two day trip to Chester Zoo, staying one night near Chester. According to the Manchester Museum website, it is open until 9pm on a Wednesday and I thought this would make an ideal evening trip. Can anyone provide advice on driving in Manchester? Is it one of those cities that lay camera traps for unsuspecting motorists accidentally turning into a bus only road? Is it a confusing melee of e-scooters, cyclists and drunken stag-dos? Is parking near the museum easy to access?

Long time since I've used a car in Manchester and it's not something I'd fancy! The museum is quite close to Oxford Road railway station (direct trains from Chester) and on possibly the best-served bus route outside London so I'd consider using public transport.
There do seem to be several car parks close by (but quite steep prices).

I have been considering the train or perhaps the park and ride.

Park and ride or train is probably cheaper. But there's parking opposite Manchester arena or near the arndale shopping centre. But that'll be a bit of a walk to the museum however great way to see Manchester City centre

A return train ticket from Chester plus parking is getting on for £40 so I think park and ride is the way to go.
