This school with a Zoo-licnece ( and a nice collection of animals ) recieved some very special new animals several weeks ago : Scaly-sided merganser.
The animals came from Tierpark Berlin and WWT Arundel Wetland Centre and are part of the European Studbook.

Nice breeding result at the Aeres MBO : 2 Chaco woodowl hatched and have been raised succesfully. The young are a male and a female .

Aeres MBO recently received 5,8 La Palma pupfish from Blijdorp and London Zoo, according to Zootierlist only 6 zoos in Europe hold this species.

Some recent news from Aeres MBO:

At the begining of March the zoo received 2 female Crested partridges/Roul-rouls (Rollulus rouloul) from Wildlands Adventure Zoo Emmen. Aeres now has 1,2 crested patridges.

At the end of March the female Chaco owl (Strix chacoensis) was incubating eggs again.

On the 7th of April a 5-year old female Victoria crowned-pigeon (Goura victoria) arrived from Artis Zoo, they are now looking for a suitable mate. Aeres MBO used to have a pair of Sclater`s crowned-pigeons (Goura sclateri), the male sadly died in an accident and the female was moved to Cologne Zoo.

In May atleast 3 Swift parrots (Lathamus discolor) hatched.

Somewhere this year a Blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna) hatched.

In October MBO Barneveld received 6 Zebra plecos (Hypancistrus zebra).

In October 2 White-cheeked turacos (Tauraco leucotis leucotis) hatched.

At the start of this week Aeres received a new species from Diergaarde Blijdorp, namely Finescale splitfins (Allodontichthys polylepis). They also got a new breeding group of La Palma pupfish (Cyprinodon longidorsalis) from Blijdorp.

Their enclosure, really love the look. Perhaps some bushes would've been nice, but they only share it with some Shellducks

Sadly Aeres MBO has been hit by avian influenza in their waterfowl collection

Most of their bird collection, except some tropical birds, about 1200 birds in total, has been or will be euthanized as part of a preventive culling

On the 29th of November a Maracaibo river stingray (Potamotrygon yepezi) was born. Would this be a zoo first breeding for Barneveld if so would this also be a European first breeding? This species is only kept in Barneveld according to ZTL.
