Facebook post by Africa Alive! Says closed until at least Thursday to allow the potential relocation of the pride to an alternative location and they are unable to open until this happens.
Whipsnade bound possibly.
Will be interesting if whipsnade takes them - they may not go into the on show enclosure of course or be visible to visitors as there is the off show lion quarantine area (near the hippos).
And by the time they had settled in I am guessing the repairs might be done so not a long stay perhaps.
Better for the lions to move - they won’t be having much fun confined to their house. 6 lions without exercise even for the customary 2 hours they actually get out of bed won’t be fun lions for the keepers.
There can’t be many zoos with lion spaces vacant and ready to take storm refugees.
The zoo is appealing for donations to fix the fencing so money may be a reason for some fix delay as well as the time needed to do the work.
