Both of these girls were sired by Johnson, as has every other calf born at the facility since 2013.

Also re: their current population, they should have:

Bulls:
George
Onyx

Cows:
Jenny
Maggie
Lily
Natasha
Piccolo
Emily
Opal
Nellie
Hannah
Anne Mae
Rose
Sunita
Luna
Imke
Maya
Abigail
Olivia

The three animals I haven't been able to account for within the past moth are Nellie, Rose and Sunita. So if they've lost an animal, it would be one of them.

This relocation is a first for the ex situ conservation breeding program from either North America or Europe (both hold the major part of the ex situ population)?

What I can garner from all information is that the receiving institution is Fundacion CLB and their Silvestre Wildlife Custode Center "Paraba Barba Azul". The transfer was rather quietly excuted as it transpires the official hand-over was 27/09/2023.

I am not sure how large the ALS captive flock would be, but I am under the impression they might have at least 2 adult breeding pairs. The first breeding was in June 2018 (2) and was followed by similar breeding success in May 2019 (2), 2020 (3) and 2021 (3).

It would seem that 8/10 chicks hatched 2018-2021 are part of the transfer to the Bolivian wildlife veterinary and wildlife conservation authorities.

It would be nice to have some more information on the captive-breeding effort and the individual birds (still) at ALS:
1. How many birds do they have?
2. Any more information on individuals like ages, sex?
3. Which individuals (or how many) are the breeding birds?

(Why I am acutely interested in this is because my local zoo has good links to the in situ conservation efforts and the transfer of captive-bred birds to a local holding facility for eventual release DOES constitute completely new information for me (and perhaps also my local zoo).

As mentioned in another thread by @StellarChaser, African Lion Safari imported a new bull elephant from a zoo in Europe earlier this year.
All well and good posting it everywhere ..., but it does nothing to reveal the identity of the new bull they have acquired! I wish it would be more substantial than just confirming that they have a new breeding male....

Anyone local to this part of Canada can provide more information of substance!?

What will happen to their defunct non functional white rhino breeding program (major mistake: 1.4 individuals maintaining for yonker years without breeding, a principal factor here is one bull not in tune with the cows and growing up as youngsters in same group and adopt sibling non-breeding behaviour)???

I sent a message to the person who initially stated a new bull had arrived, so we might get a response on that later!

Oh, I didn't notice that a few of my words brought up huge interest from many people. I was told by an Elephant keeper during my visit of Safari few months ago about they getting a new bull Elephant. Unfortunately she didn't give detailed information about that acquisition and I also forgot to ask further about it b/c I was too concerned about how Elephants adapt in Canada's wintertime during that talk. The Safari is not open to public this season, I may go visit next year and ask the staff about the details
