African lions in the UK

On 15th July, Hertfordshire Zoo (formerly known as Paradise Wildlife Park)'s male African white lion Moto (born at West Midlands Safari Park in 2007) was put to sleep aged 17 after suffering from age related health issues.

This leaves the zoo with two lionesses; Moto's daughter Zuri and her maternal half-sister Izulu.

She was young only 4, any idea what happened? As it’s a very dominant male pride I wonder when woeburn will have to readdress the balance one day!
 
Does anyone remember the names of the 3/4 castrated male lions that were born at Knowsley but rehomed to France, think they were rehomed about 2015? I know they've all since died but can't remembr their names, Bungle sounds familiar but I might be wrong
 
I could have confused the rehoming to France with males from Woburn but I know there were definitely 3/4 males, Bungle & Raffi are names I can remember
 
No mention of Jaseera on Animal Park(Longleat) today when talking about her pride. She would be 19yrs if she's still alive
 
if white lions are being included BCS have a pride of females:

saba
shaka
jasiri
nuru

and imara (white african lioness) who is in the same enclosure as kasanga (male african lion originally from woburn)

they have also now brought over yuna (female) african lioness from kyiv and plan to bring rory (male) african lion over too
 
Noticed on a cursory look at Blair Drummond social media that they no longer have Reid. Murray and the 6 females are still mentioned. Might have missed a memo but unsure whether deceased of transferred.
 
Also saw on a social media post from Hanover zoo in Germany there 2 young lioness born 2023 are expected to move to an English zoo any idea who could be getting more lions?

So I believe at the last count there was the male(remember his name) &
6 lionesses
Libby,
Karis,
Thistle,
Isla,
Hope & Faith

2 castrated males(Murray & Reid)

Their Halloween video on social media showed 6 lionesses/castrated males

Tbf they never announced Teekays death so no idea when she died

Just some updates from this year

  • Wildheart (Isle of wight) announced their male White Lion Casper was PTS aged 18yrs
  • Lincolnshire Wildlife Park announced their male White Lion Uganda was PTS aged 16yrs
  • Big Cat Sanctuary successfully transferred in March the 1:3 remaining lions to the UK and are now settled into their new home
  • Yorkshire Wildlife Park had an unplanned litter of 0:0:3 born in March, mum Ayassa was caught by one of her sons
  • However YWP did have to PTS their last 0:2 of the original rescue lionesses Carla & Crystal in April. Both aged 18yrs
  • Noah's Ark announced the death of Kojo, one of their male lions who's was born there in 2018. His father Masai(who died in 2023) was a brother to Louisa who was at Longleat.
  • Announced today 14th May, Folly Farm have had their male Hugo PTS due to kidney failure

Worth noting, YWP only hold one male, who is the son and sire of the new cubs.
