Well, 'good job' on oppressing the legal hunters and decreasing income from sustainable wildlife management for several countries.
This would NOT stop smuggling of poached animal derivatives though - they're (usually) hidden well in the luggage.

However, while I dislike the idiots who go trophy hunting it isn't really related to poaching, and banning the trophies on flights isn't going to do anything much except maybe deter the trophy hunters from flying on those airlines. Trophy hunted animals are very far in the minority compared to illegally poached animals, and the airline ban is going to do nothing to prevent that.

Seems like another case of political correctness taken to the point of absurdity. I am very surprised that South African Airlines was the first, considering hunting (both canned and free range) brings a considerable amount of income to South Africa.
Trophy hunters spend huge amounts of money and if other airlines follow suit, it will create a new economic opportunity. If this trend continues (which it may not), then whichever global airline has the guts to cater to hunters could feasibly charge special wildlife handling fees and increase revenue.

This happened a few weeks ago now, but the ban on South African Airlines has been removed.

Yeah, no way that was sustainable long term. As someone who hunts the social media shaming of trophy hunting while pretending to support sustenance hunting is sickening. Everyone who hunts takes trophies. We've been doing it since the Cro Magon days.
