The levy needs to pass first. That is up in early November. Details will likely come later in the decade. Wild Asia needs to open. I have heard the zoo might build the large giraffe and antelope habitat and a primate habitat. Pride of Africa and Wild Asia was the zoo replacing Tiger Valley. It will be nice to see the zoo to grow further.

From Facebook :

"A new addition has been born here at your Akron Zoo! A spotted turtle hatched on Sunday, Sept. 6 and is doing well!
Since our spotted turtles moved into their home in Curious Creatures in 2018, we have had four turtles hatch here at your Akron Zoo! Spotted turtles are endangered, especially locally here in Ohio. While habitat loss has played a role, the spotted turtle population decline is mainly due to poaching for the pet trade.
Your Akron Zoo works daily to help save species from extinction, like the spotted turtles. Akron Zoo staff worked with other zoos to help designate spotted turtles as an AZA SAFE (Saving Animals from Extinction) species, a program whose mission is to combine the power of zoo and aquarium visitors with the resources and collective expertise of
The Association of Zoos and Aquariums
(AZA) members and partners to save animals from extinction."

The zoo will have a construction walkthrough of Wild Asia on its Facebook page tomorrow (Friday) at 12pm. This is the last one until it opens in the spring.

“There are a few new faces at your Akron Zoo - our new red pandas have arrived!

Lousie (Lulu), Coco and Penny are one-year-old sisters from the Kansas City Zoo in Missouri. Their birthday is July 11, 2019.

According to their care team, the three are very playful and will tumble around with each other, making fake anger faces. Lulu is the bold one. She is very sweet and can be a bit of a troublemaker. Penny is gentle and a little more timid than Lulu, but is still curious. Coco has taken some time to open up, but she’s starting to get more comfortable with her care team each day!

The three red pandas will be residents in Lehner Family Foundation Wild Asia, opening in spring 2021! The girls will make their public debut once the new area opens.

Until then, stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram accounts for photos and videos of the red pandas!”

White-cheeked gibbons are now at the zoo.

Milo and Parker arrived from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. Milo was born on December 12, 1999. Parker was born on June 15, 2001.
