There is now a tragopan in the avian habitat at Garden View Place. The red wolf habitat has signs over the glass while improvements are made to the habitat. The Patagonian mara has not debuted yet. The new facilities and grounds building will go where I circled in yellow.

I wonder how much more land the zoo has across the street and if that could possibly be used for expansion. Think how Cleveland has their Rainforest outside the zoo gates but on the property

If you look on Google Maps satellite of the land on the other side of Edgewood, you will see vacant land. It is either owned by the zoo or the city. Same thing the vacant land on Euclid. I have thought that the land across Edgewood could be used for perhaps more education classrooms or even employee parking as the zoo grows.

The zoo has put its lions and many of its birds back on exhibit after the recent Canadian Wildfire smoke passed the area today.

I did learn recently that the lion pride on habitat switches weekly. It takes around 45 minutes to rotate them.

The green tree pythons is now in the empty habitat in the Madagascar Building. Their old habitat is no longer in Komodo Kingdom.

The zoo currently does not have an octopus.

Construction continues on two projects. The new Facilities Building and the red wolf back area expansion. Attachments show areas under construction. Facilities is the first. Red wolf the second.

"The stork has visited our storks! A white stork chick hatched on Monday, June 12 to stork pair, Muranga and Kampala, and big sister, Tashi, who hatched last year.

We do not yet know the chick's gender. They are being hand raised by their care team after their parents rejected them. The chick is doing well, growing leaps and bounds, and is very vocal."

Just took a survey. A nighttime painting exhibit could be coming in the spring and dinosaurs in the summer.

Just left Akron. Here's what I saw/learned
- River Otters no-show
- Speke's Gazelle was also a no show
- Aviary was reopened (It was closed my last visit)
- Red Wolf exhibit should reopen by Halloween
- 90% sure the zoo has gotten a replacement Komodo Dragon for Draco. The door to the backstage Komodo holding has a window now and I was able to see a "Jasper" in the off exhibit outside yard. That may just be an employee but fingers crossed its a dragon

I realize my above post was a little vague about the dragon situation. Right inside the window was a whiteboard with a list of the areas the Komodos are able to go; Indoor exhibit , holding, and outdoor. Padar was listed as indoor, which he was, so that's why I think Jasper may be another dragon

Draco's sister Charlie (former Akron resident) has a son named Jasper born in 2019. It might be him.

It's possible. I thought about taking a picture of the whiteboard for here but figured nah because its technically backstage even though there's a window
