What I heard from the Akron Zoo: The (new) bird habitat (in Wild Asia) is unfortunately on hold indefinitely. Any changes to Legends of the Wild will be shared over the next year or so.
I wonder what changed the plans, as I was told by an employee last year it was likely happening this yearWhat I heard from the Akron Zoo: The (new) bird habitat (in Wild Asia) is unfortunately on hold indefinitely. Any changes to Legends of the Wild will be shared over the next year or so.

Is there any news about the new giraffe exhibit and what other animals will be in the expansion of the Pride of Africa?I think it might be connected to Legends changes plus upcoming hospital and giraffe construction.
From an article last year -Is there any news about the new giraffe exhibit and what other animals will be in the expansion of the Pride of Africa?
I still wish there were more species, as the main safari exhibit is a combined 4.3 acres. From an article last year -
In 2028, the zoo will open a giraffe conservation center that will also include ostriches, wildebeests and a small animal exhibit. Piekarz said there will be several viewing and animal-feeding areas for patrons, along with a play area for kids, restrooms and concessions.
I believe a rhino exhibit is also coming.

Also, the Rhino exhibit will probably be in phase 3.
Went to Akron today -
- No change to the former Jaguar exhibit.
- Former vulture/tahr exhibit is taped off with signage removed.
- The glass looking into the snow leopard exhibit from the second has been covered over as TigerValley predicted. This makes me wonder if the new resident has already arrived and they're just not telling us what it is yet.
- Signage for the tragopans at the garden view place has been taken down, as had the signage for the macaws at Legends. I wonder if they've moved to Legends permanently.
- No changes to the Madagascar building, now called the Primate Building.
- Species in African mixed exhibit are still gazelle, stork, and guinea fowl. Not sure what species is depicted on the map, but no changes.

The tragopans were on exhibit in Legends. I know someone is going to the old Jaguar exhibit so I was wondering if it'll end up being the macaw or tragopan. The bird signs might be down because they are off-habitat. The macaw habitat is in need of mesh replacement. It has been 20 years.

I'm glad they plan on expanding the snow leopard exhibit. Compared to the other big cat exhibits (Lion, tiger, and fmr Jaguar) they seemed to have the smaller exhibit. Of course the current exhibit isn't a problem with Tai Lung, who tends to sleep alot, but I can imagine if they want to breed snow leopards in the future its definetly neededLegends of the Wild Renovations Request for Proposals Construction Services Request for Proposals | Akron Zoo
The snow leopard habitat is going to be enlarged into the neighboring habitat. I now suspect the new SSP species that will eventually come to the zoo will go in the former jaguar habitat at some point. Penguin Point and the waterfowl habitat are also getting upgrades.
The zoo has posted on their website that the waterfowl, red breasted geese and emperor geese are temporarily off exhibit due to the avian flu.
I must admit I had a bit of an old feeling when they said "Reptile that used to be at the zoo" and my first guess was "Chinese Crocodile" which was correct haha.In the zoo's latest podcast, the zoo said Legends of the Wild will go under renovations next year. Curious Creatures will get reimagined later in the decade. Dinosaurs, giraffes, and the new hospital were also briefly mentioned.
