GuZoo Animal Farm (Closed) Alberta Gov't is finally tightening the reigns on GuZoo

FINALLY!!! Guzoo is well known as one of the all-time worst zoos in Canadian history, and so anything to advance the process of shutting them down gets a thumbs up from me.:)
 
Excellent news :D

Hopefully they'll either be forced to do up the enclosures and buck up their animal care and management, or good homes for the inhabitants will be found elsewhere :)

Ignorance display here... Is there another thread which can give me some idea of why this place appears to be so vehemently disliked?

Alternatively - Can someone fill me in? Preferably someone who has visited the place?

I would like to at least try to get both sides of the story.

I have visited guzoo , I live in calgary and was last there in november and plan on returning again for an update this november , the place is truly deserving of its reputation . I wont go into to much detail as you will know what you need to after you read the thread and I can tell you from being there and smelling the place and hearing the place and seeing the place then being physically ill . really for days ... It is the saddest thing and most disgusting thing i have ever seen . all the bad stuff is 100% true . the link is to there we page , once you read the new mandates , please feel free to look around it . they are very ignorant and none of them have any kind of actual training , he used to be a fur farm before he was a zoo , he breeds every animals he can get every chance he gets then sells them into the animal trade or to private owners ... i could go on and on , but it is good for you to ask . Please take a look . PLEASE . this place has been as it is for almost 22 years , it has taken 22 years to get to this point . and it has been as bad as it is from the start and has only gotten worse.

I wonder what will become of the animals when the zoo is closed?? We recently aided in the rehoming 22 animals and it's no easy task. Guzoo is a long way from Kansas. osm20
 
In a word... yikes...

'Nuff said. The thread, pictures, and videos speak for themselves. The link name on their well-named sob-story ('cutebabyanimals') also speaks volumes, as this is what they seem to be counting on to distract people from the real issues.

I'm with Snowleopard on this one. Guzoo is the type of facility which gives better-run places a bad name. Time to close it.

It's about time. My hope for it it is to be shut down and the animals rehomed somewhere responsible. It's places like this which give good zoos bad names.
