Altai Argali

As far as I know, these impressive Sheep are only found in a captive setting in Russia, but they are regularly hunted in Mongolia by international big game hunters. What are the chances of getting them being imported to the US from Mongolia for a zoo or safari park? These Sheep break the scales with a maximum recorded weight of 785 pounds with mature rams having 75-pound horns.

Wait until you find out about Montana Mountain King, lol. The US Has a Cloned Sheep Contraband Problem

So basically, if I wanted exhibit Altai Argali in a 50-acre safari park exhibit with Yak, Bactrian Camel, Przewalski's Horse, and Sichuan Takin I'm pretty much SOL now, aren't I?

Yep.

And that goes without saying that wild Bactrian Camels and wild Yaks aren't even found in captivity in the first place, the Bactrians and Yaks that you see in zoos are their domesticated counterparts.

Caprinae like Sichuan Takin have been historically unpopular in zoos, and I'm reasonably certain that the captive population is absurdly inbred.

Przewalski’s horses are, for better or for worse, available in the private trade.

Guess that means more room for the Horses, Yaks, and Camels. No Sheep and no Takin.

Are you planning a safari park or something? I don't mean to discourage you, but you do need to be aware of the realities of captive animal populations.

Why do you even want Bactrian Camels and Yaks in the first place? Neither has any conservation value. You'd be better off just dedicating the entire space to Przewalski's horses. You could run bigger breeding herds, and multiple of them at that, that way.

I am planning a safari park and I'm trying to figure out and learn what I can do and what I can't do, what goes together and what doesn't go together. I've already pretty much have had to back to the drawing board so to speak.

With all due respect: How old are you? Are you even an adult yet? Because your... conduct thus far makes me suspect that you're a teenager with big dreams.

Which is fine! It's just that you aren't the first relatively new user to act in such a way recently, so it gets a bit tiresome to field questions for dream projects.

I'm just someone with dreams who loves animals.

You didn't answer my questions...

Which, fine. You're under no obligation to do so, I merely asked because I wanted to see if I needed to modify my behavior around you.

By the way, you might be well-served by starting a thread in the speculation section. Making multiple threads all ultimately related to the same topic isn't the greatest forum etiquette.

I think you are putting the cart before the horse. You have a lot to figure out before you worry about importing animals from overseas. Starting off, do you have the money to even start this project? You would need to be a multimillionaire for this project. Do you know where you want it? Do you know the laws of said area? Do you have the permits required? Do you have the land and the infrastructure to do it? This is not a small thing you are planning. I am going to assume you are young and say, I don't want to crush your dreams, but sometimes reality kills them.
