There may be lots of opossum species that still thriving, unlikely to go extinct from the wild, and listed as “least concern” but there are numbers that still concern me as much and no one has thought of it.
Here’s a list of what I am aware about:
- Black-shouldered opossum (Listed as endangered in Brazil)
- Chestnut-striped opossum
- One-striped possum
- Pantepui slender opossum
- Handley's slender opossum
- Chacoan pygmy opossum
- Long-nosed caenolestid
- Eastern caenolestid
- Northern caenolestid
- Andean caenolesti
- Gray-bellied caenolestid
- Monito del Monte
It is going to be very bad news for American wildlife if we continue to ignore these more
