While this event isnt stictly held at the Miami Metrozoo, the next Amnesty Day event for surrendering non-native pets will be held at the Metrozoo. The last event held here, resulted in the surrender of 148 animals to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. This animals were checked by a licensed veterinarian and sent to proper facilities or approved and qualified adopters.

While most animals surrendered are turtles and iguanas....there have been some significant species surrendered such as serval, coati, burmese python, marmosets, and monitor lizards.
The last amnesty day occured last fall at the Jacksonville Zoo.
