Amur Tigers in Europe

At the Orsa Rovdjurspark, which closed in 2022, Amur tiger male Bojan died earlier this year. He was due to move to another zoo and was sedated before transport, he was later found dead. An autopsy has so far failed to find an explanation for his death.

To my knowledge, no Amur tigers are currently living in Orsa anymore.

Currently, only the old Amur tiger female Mymoza lives at the Wuppertal Zoo. Soon, a young male will move to Wuppertal. Shortly afterwards, a young female is also expected to form a breeding pair.

According to a post on German zoo forum ZooFreunde, Amur tigers Sergan and Akina at Cologne Zoo do not get along well. Therefore, Akina will move to another zoo. A new female from Nürmberg Zoo will come to Cologne in her place.

At Zoo Budapest, 17-year-old Amur tiger female Niva has died. She was born at Ouwehands Dierenpark on 18 May 2006, and had been living in Budapest since 2010. She was suffering from age-related ailments and in recent weeks her condition deteriorated. After which, in consultation with vets, she was put to sleep last Friday.

Tiergarten Nürnberg and Cologne Zoo have swapped their Amur tiger females. 12-year-old Katinka moved from Nürnberg to Cologne, while 6-year-old Akina went the other way. This swap took place because Katinka did not get along well with both the previous and current male in Nürnberg.

Kasimir has been moved from Duisburg where he was born in 2021, to Wuppertal.

Does anybody know which amur tigers are momently in Sóstó Zoo?
I have the following pair on my list at Sóstó Zoo:

1,0 Boris (02-06-2008, Beekse Bergen) (Joris x Petrouchka)
0,1 Pamír (??-??-2005, Sóstó Zoo) (? x ?)

Thank you! The male's name is Usanka(was Tijs in B.B.)
They had 2 or 3 litter and in 2020 they still had 1-3 adult offsprings with the pair. Do you know they already moved anywhere and this why the pair is alone again?

He was called Tijs in Beekse Bergen indeed. At Sosto Zoo, I see him called both Boris and Usanka.

The last of their offspring, Vadím (born in 2015), moved to AquaZoo Leeuwarden in 2022. Since then, they have had a pair again in Sóstó.

Thank you for the information! :)

A new Amur tiger female recently arrived at Ouwehands Dierenpark from a Swedish zoo. The zoo therefore has a pair again. For now, the tigers will alternate in the two outdoor enclosures. The new female has to get used to her new environment before the introduction can begin.

Looks like the tiger that was behind the scenes at Zooparc Overloon for a while, Daughter of their
Zaria I believe.
It is indeed Zaria's daughter. They both came to ZooParc Overloon from Orsa Rovdjurspark. The daughter later moved on to Ouwehands Dierenpark.
