An old guy learning new tricks

I am an old-time zoo guy who is new to the on-line world of zoo chatter. After many years of working in 7 different zoos, I am ready to think about how to pass my experience on to the next generation. My first novel, "The Menagerie: A Zoo Story" is about the 100 year history of a modern zoo and is available at Amazon.com in both paperback and Kindle, and at Barnes & Noble.com. my BLOG is at J D Porter Books

I'm brand new to the site, and I am glad to hear that there apparently are quite a few young members on the site! I feared that I was somewhat unwelcome from the point of view of the wiser members, and I have heard before that experienced members of the zoo community tend to refuse to share their secrets. It's great to find members willing to pass on their knowledge -- thank you!
 
I hadn't seen that thread before. I am now feeling glum as the the oldest category is 50+ - that seems very young! I wish I had found the thread when I joined as I was 49 then.
