Hello ZooChat.
One of my dreams in life is to write a book, as there are barely any well written zoo books out there. However, recently realizing I’ll need some practice, I’ve thought of the perfect way to do that. As the title suggests, I’ll be analyzing almost every habitat animal in Planet Zoo (and if successful enough, Zoo Tycoon) and looking at their zoological status. Planet Zoo has 126 different habitat species, so this should last throughout the rest of the year and into next year, hopefully with 2 more dlcs bringing up more species. This thread also only covers zoos in @lintworm and @pachyderm pros incredible Must See threads, with Australasia zoos also used if necessary.
East post will go in order from each animal reveal from Base Game & Deluxe Edition to Arid Animal Pack. Choosing Planet Zoo means that popular ABCs and zoological rarities will be looked at indiscriminately, with encyclopedic styled entries to showcase and teach about the biodiversity of life on earth. There will also be media in every post to show people what these animals are like, as well as showcasing some of the best places to see these animals.
Another inspiration was @Coelacanth18's brilliant herp thread (American Herping: A Guide to Reptiles and Amphibians in US Zoos), but due to the focus on mammals, (semi)flightless birds and large reptiles alike, the relative abundance had to be scaled slightly differently, sorted into the following bins.
Abundant: 50+ holdings
Very Common: 30-49 holdings
Common: 20-29 holdings
Uncommon: 11-19 holdings
Rare: 6-10 holdings
Very Rare: 1-5 holdings
Ideally, I’ll get 1-3 of these put out every even day (Monday, Wednesday & Friday) but some could take longer than others. With all that settled, let’s a-go!
P.S. Fist time doing something like this, so any constructive criticism is appreciated!
