Animal Identification Game

I expect this will be a toughie, so I will give a hint.

This large insect is found in Western North America, and is named after one of the places it's found. (No need to be nitpicky on place, it's a major place)

I have just found it referred to as California Prionus, but I am happy to let you post the next one (if these are the right answers)

You are both correct, California Root Borer and California Prionus are both used for this beetle. @MizzB answered first so she gets next photo. Nice job both of you!
