Hi everyone,im just writing a review of Disney's Animal Kingdom.Are family vistied in January 2008 and we had a great time in all the theme parks and everything else.This will not include the rides except Kilimanjaro Safari.

The Oasis:This area is the first xhibit you see upon arriving.Like everything at Disney,its very finished and has that illusion feel.This area is a tropical oasis with man intertwining tttrails and cave.It has lush but a bit to small of enclosures for babirusa and giant anteater and very good ones for agouti and many types of birds and reptiles.The thing is that the xhibits are very hard to find beacasue of all the side trails.Either than that its a nice start and it is very lush and refreshing.

Discovery Island:This area is a so cool beacause all the exhibits are centred around the Tree Of Life which has many great carvings.The highlights is a nice exhibit for three asian small clawed otters which has a fantastic underwate viewing area.There are also many other grassy yards for capybara,tortoise,acouchi,flamingo,spoonbill,duiker and stork.The viewing areas are pretty good and the trail has nice views of Discovery River which used to have a boat ride but not anymore.

Marajarah Jungle Trek:This and Pangani Forest Exploration Trail are my two favourite trails in the park.The trail starts with a beautifal,lush yard for komodo dragons which includes a waterfall and temple ruins.There are three overlooks and then a look at a female malayan tapir in a jungle clearing.She was in her pool that day.Right the whole trail is themed along a search through the Royal Anadapur Forest for bengal tigers.Along the way are many great artifacts and signs of tigers.The next place is an abandoned temple which inside has viewing into a very good bat habitat,bat conservation areas and a look at blood pythons.The bats can be seen through harp-wire windows fluttering arond there humungous aviary area.After leaving,you head along to the highlight of the trail.Two large tiger habitats with tons of ruins and a very deep pool and moat plus extremely good viewing.There are three tigers in each habitat.You can even view them from inside a temple and then on a bridge which makes it look like the moats for the bateng and deer fields and the tiger exhibit are connected.The field for the bateng,blackbuck and the deer is huge and goes back extremely far.The last area is an abandoned garden aviary which has all kind of birds.
 
Great review! I'm a big disney and zoo fan, so I have always wanted to visit Walt Disney World to see Animal Kingdom which is the perfect combination for me. Can't wait for the rest.
 
I'd love to go to Disney world one day mainly for Animal kingdom I've been a fan of it ever since I saw an add for in the first time I watched Dumbo! Excellent review by the way,
 
I was in Animal Kingdom last week and it remains a great animal attraction. Several of the enclosures on the Discovery island were empty with signs informing guests (Disney don't have visitors) that "we're out foraging" or words to that effect.
Still plenty of education going on with staff greeting you with smaller species of animals and then staff by most of the exhibits on both Marajarah Jungle Trek and Pangani Forest Exploration Trail to answer questions. Couldn't help thinking though that some of the staff only have a limited knowledge of that particular animal and some just worked off a script - so no far reaching questions thank you.

I had hoped to take in Lowrey Park but unfortunately Tropical Storm Fay put paid to that. Maybe next time.
 
I visited last month, it was a very impressive place and i would like to visit again someday. My only critiscim is that both Discovery Island and Oasis dont have signs telling you where the animals are, so you could easily miss a large amount of animals.
 
Part Two

Pangani Exploration Trail:This is anothe rof my favourite trails at Disney's Animal Kingdom,perhaps my favourite.The first habitat you see upon entering this lush africa forest trail is a large net habitat for colobus monkeys and a yellow-backed duiker wh co-habit nicley.The colobus have a ton of climbing space and the duiker has alot of ground area.The duiker was hard to find but she finall got scared out of the bushes by a few of the colobus who were leaping around in the morning light.They can be viewed fromt he net or in a glass area with lots of researh information.The next habitat is a forest clearing area for three yellow-backed duikers,two okapis and 5 stanley cranes.The area looks as though it goes very far back as on okapi was hiding quite a ways away while the other ate breakfast.The duiker were hard to see as they were behind some rocks and the cranes were following one of the okapis around.The viewing is from a nice overlook with good signage.After leaving that is the nile hippo habitat which was awesome.There was a huge underwater viewing area with a mother and calf playing right by the window!The pool was stocked with tilapia and chiclids.If you go through the door,you'll enter the Researh Station which has numerous tanks of tortoise,mice,snakes,frogs and naked mole rats.There is also a education station with many skulls and other artifacts plus a scientests desk.When we walked out,we had no idea we were in an aviary until ispotted hammerkops and realized there was harp-wire above my head.The aviary is very large with a river,a fish tank and also tons of birds from bee-eaters to weaver birds to hammerkops.It is very lush as well here and the trees shade the whole place.The second last habitat is the savanna edge which is a habitat ajacent to the Kilimanjaro Safari.This could be viewed from a little hut into a habitat on the forest edge.There were dik dik,gerunuk and a meerkat colny all sharing this area nicely.The last habitat was a two sided gorilla habitat with viewing from a large window and then on a bridge.Te gorillas have a lush habitat with lots of hills and stuff.There is also a nice waterfall flowing into the moat.
