Les Terres de Nataé Animal rights group buying Zoo de Pont-Scorff

There was a court hearing today and we learn that just two projects remain : Sea Shepherd and the breton investor. Libema is no longer in the race.
Décision is expected next tours Day.
 
And the looser is Sea Shepherd so the winner is the breton investor.
The 41 years old man, formely director of a bank and now owner of a...restaurant, created a pool of six investors. The idea is to reopen the zoo in june 2022 after putting 4 millions euros (on a total of 5 millions) in refurbishments and improuvements in the zoo.
The new owner will keep 9 of the actual employees.

By actual employees do you mean the ones who used to work for PS before rewild bought the zoo?

Idk about the new owner’s qualifications but as long as SS is gone for good I feel like the gif in the link.

The employees are the remaining on site who are the same that were previously working for the zoo.

We learn more about some of the investors and the real winners are M. And Mme Carles, actual owners of Zoo de Champrepus (that they purchased in 2019/2020) and Zoo de Labenne (their first park purchased about 10 years ago).

Personally, I think that is a just choice decision. It is management and oversight that has seen this zoo go down the dumps. It is also good to know the investors are the owners of PZ de Champrepus, experienced zoo staffers!

Wghat do you mean with "the real winners are M and Mme Carles? If Pont Scorff would develop well, I would think thank they will be the losers?
 
Why would they be loosers if Pont Scorff go well ? As investors they will get some incomes and they have already incomes from their two other zoos.

I didn't know that they were part of the investors. Well, Champrepus was a good zoo when they bought it, but Labenne is rather poor with an unprofessional management, so that is not very good news.

Bear with us that you are talking about past management of the Zoo in Labenne. And this very scenario is again being played out here with Pont Scorff.

I remain confident that the Carles family will be able to turn both Labenne and Pont Scorff around and enrich the French zoo landscape. PZ de Champrepus has developed into a nice zoo over the years. I am looking forward what the Carles's can and will do to these newer ventures they are now involved with!

No, I am talking about the current management of Zoo de Labenne, and their view of animal welfare. It is only 1 year that they own PZ de Champrepus, that it is nice is only thanks to the former owners (that are still involved in its management).
 
Okay so I kinda missed out of all of this, but something confuses me. To my understanding, this whole recent flareup was caused when the Pont Scorff Zoo - under management of Rewild - was no longer able to pay it's bills and they went looking for a new owner to inject some cash. Then why was Sea Shepherd - a member of Rewild - ever a candidate for the buyout? Thats like a supermarket going bankrupt and it then being auctioned off to its original owner?
 
@Blijdorpenaar This is not so simple. The zoo was on ownership of a company called Bretagne zoo which was the one in bankrupt. This company was on the ownership of another company, a holding in wich Rewild bought the major part of the shares.
Rewild is a non profit organization in which Sea Shepherd was just a partner. Moreover none of the members of Sea Shepherd was in management of Bretagne Zoo. As Sea Shepherd was just indirectly connect to this company there was no problem for them to apply legally.
 
Seems that the new project is on the way and the owner want to reopen to the public in june 2022.
We don't know so much about the new project except that there will be a south american aviary and a mix exhibit for beavers and otters.
