Adelaide Zoo has received two new animals from Taronga Zoo in Sydney , both here to start a Family - in fact we sent two animals to Taronga in return with the same aim there.

Earlier this week we received a young male Fennec Fox in return for a female, so we now have pair we hope will breed. The Fennec Fox is the smallest fox in the world and comes from Northern Africa. The young male is being introduced to the female and will be on display soon.

Likewise we swapped male Squirrel Monkeys with Taronga Zoo as neither of our pairs have bred, so it is hoped we can encourage them to breed by introduce them to new partners. Very few Squirrel Monkeys are bred in this country, so we hope the proximity of this move to Valentine’s day will do the trick!!

Good news to hear they (taronga and adelaide) are trying to breed these species. I looked in isis for fennec fox taronga now has 1.2 and adelaide 0.1, I don't know if it is just adelaide hasn't put him on but I'm not sure. Also a bit before someone said a female serval has come from somewhere in New Zealand, I think it is on the Adelaide website.
