Hi,

Has anyone been to Animal World at Moss Bank Park, Bolton. It looks like a small butterfly house with some small animals too, am thinking of going as it's not far. I've never heard of it but stumbled across it on the web. :)

Thanks again Bongorob! I've been to Bolton museum fairly recently (there's a piece on my writing blog if anyone is interested - Writer's Block) the aquarium is very small but they had some Madagascan species so I liked it.
There's more than I expected on the stock list for Animal World including the giant day gecko and whistling-faced duck which I'll have to add to my drmidas website. Definitely worth a drive - even with petrol as costly as it is - lol:D
 
The best wildlife sight in Bolton at the moment is the peregrine falcons nesting on the Town Hall :) The aquarium is much more interesting behind the scenes, where the breeding is done. But I must confess that I've never visited Moss Bank Park.

i was quietly impressed with moss bank. Its free entry (or it was when i went) and to be honest i've paid £5+ to go to places which aren't much better!!
its a great place to get some photo opportunities, will certainly entertain you for a couple of hours, but its not a ful day out.

thought so. Bury is the only place in the UK I've been to (well, and Manchester Airport)
 
Fab pictures - I love the coati and the stretching chipmunk. I'm also very jealsous you captured the flying peacock I know I'd still be taking the lens cap off if I saw that happening - lol. :D
 
My dad loves photography -especially birds so I tipped him off about the peregrine falcons. You can see his pictures at galatas.smugmug.com - the falcons are in the quick edits section until he's finished working on them.

Nice photos (:( I'm jealous) I've been shooting the falcons several times - mostly early in the morning before I go to work. Frankly they are much more exciting than peacocks and chipmunks.

thanks Chlidonias & Susan! I had spotted the peacock fly from that spot earlier, so i sat and waited - with camera ready (and lens cap in pocket!). It was about 15 minutes before he did it again but was worth it.

My usual problem is not the sitting and waiting, but having some stranger would come talk to me about whats the best £50 camera to buy as the animals start tap dancing and i miss the action!
