Animals No Longer At Your Zoo You'd Like To See There Again

I wasn´t there to see them, but according to a Book i have about the history of the zoo there was a giant sable antelope that lived there from 1972 till 1991. Don´t know much more. The zoo had all the Hippotraginae family members, and currently only lacks the giant sable antelope and the beisa oryx.

I may be wrong, but I believe that they had Asian Elephants around the time the zoo opened because, I think, they were circus retirees and many of the zoo's first animals were either pets or Barnum & Bailey Circus animals.

Charles Paddock Zoo used to have a jaguar, servals, and an American alligator when I visited in 2000.

Santa Ana Zoo had a flock of Pacific parrotlets in the small exhibit in the entry way of their Amazon aviary. They were great fun to watch.

Orange County Zoo had a cacomistle, groundhog, and some armadillos (don't remember what species) that all came from the indoor zoo at the Ontario mall that closed.

You forgot Amazon river dolphins, which I found out for sure that they had them

@ungulate nerd: Where did you find out about the Amazon river dolphins? Also, I just remembered that Milwaukee had bottlenose dolphins at some point too. (I believe that was in the 1980's. Anyone know about this?)

This is my refernece to the Amazon river dolphins, it is a very great website it tells you the history of cetaceans in captivity and tells you about former and current holdings of the species listed on this site, enjoy !!! Cetacean Lifestyle
