Rio Grande Zoo also had Siberian ibex and Markhor
Just 3 species which sping in mind for Rotterdam Zoo :
Flat-headed cat
Wilsons bird of paradise ( I loved this bird when it was displaying for me ! )
White-necked picathartes a bird which was bred at several places in the 70-ties and 80-ties but all have dissapeared now - such a shame !!!!

By the giant panda expansion:
Bactrian Camel (could've been accommodated to the new Asia exhibits)
Both of the bactrian camels came to the zoo in 1987 from what I can find. They died out by 2005. The first one, female, had arthritis in a carpal joint, and was euthanized in January 2004. The male died suddenly in March 2005 from unknown causes.
It would have been awesome if they had sourced more bactrians for Asia Trail, though!

It turns out that the Oribi wearnt at Lowry Park Zoo, they were actually at Busch Gardens Tampa and also Busch Gardens Tampa had Hunters hatebeest

I also found out that Milwaukee County Zoo had Lichtensteins hartebeest, i didnt think any american zoo had this hartebeest subspecies but Milwaukee County did !!!

For Dallas Zoo you forgot Saiga and for Gladys Porter Zoo you forgot Zebra duiker, Hunters hartebeest, Red shanked douc langur, and Red uakari
Fro Artis Zoo Amsterdam I would love to see again Kuhl's deer and Rock fowl. These last ones even bred with quite a succes but are now kept nowhere anymore !

I'd like to see all those species back at Central Park but unfortunately the only ones they have space for are the tamandua and the baboons (and that's if they remove another species and add them in). I suppose the camels could go in the children's zoo.

Sorry, that's just a list compiled by going through old SSP studbooks and is by no means complete, there's no telling what else is left out.
If you have more info on these or a more comprehensive list, please post- it's so interesting to see some of the rarities these zoos once had in their collections.

Thats alright, I just listed what else i knew and if I find a more comprehensive list I will most definately post it, I am a zoo history fanatic and find those lists very interesting, I especially salivate and light up with joy when i see rarities on those lists, by the way thank you so much for the lists you came up with, where did you find this info ???

Thanks Tim, I had no idea Central Park had those animals, the only practical way that the zoo can bring those species back is if they expanded, same applies to the animals on my list for Central Park Zoo, by the way when did Central Park Zoo have those animals ???
The old Central Park Menagerie had both Indian rhino and black rhino in the 1870s. There was also a black rhino in Central Park in the 1880s that lived into the 1900s. Another black rhino lived for a short time in Central Park in 1940 - 1941.

The gorilla “Pattycake” who died recently in Bronx Zoo was born in Central Park Zoo in 1972.
Thanks, I found most of those animals listed in some older SSP studbooks which gave very detailed info on historical populations, so besides the few species that were on there from memory or web.archive.org searches of past versions of the zoos' individual websites, the only animals that made those lists are ones that either have or at one time had a SSP. Several can be found at the San Diego Zoo's online library- Studbooks and some were available on AZA's website, but I believe you have to be a member to view any of those now.
