Animals that look related but aren't.

Toucans and hornbills also look almost the same but aren't related.

Sorry, I couldn't resist :p

Convergent evolution, they are both also prolific raiders of the nestlings from other birds nests.

Incidentally at the Sorocaba zoo here in Brazil there is an elderly grey cheeked hornbill kept in a large aviary next to a pair of toco toucans.

The hornbill absolutely hated the toucans and would make threat vocalizations and attempt to "attack" them through the bars.

I always used to think of it as a "clash of the convergents".

The pennant coralfish/bannerfish (Heniochus acuminatus) and the Moorish idol (Zanclus cornutus) are extremely similar to the untrained eye, despite not being closely related. There are a couple ways to tell the difference, like the Moorish idol's crescent-shaped caudal fin and the more elongated snout, but the easiest way to tell the two apart is that the Moorish idol has an orange diamond-shaped marking on the snout, but the bannerfish does not. (If you ever want to keep bannerfish, you'll need to know the difference, bannerfish are fairly easy to keep (given they have a large tank), but the Moorish idol certainly is not!)
