Animals that you are for some reason scared of (Like really scared)

As much as I love them, I have a lot of respect for chimpanzees and I would be very fearful if I encountered one.

Humans, especially those who refuse to follow safety rules during a pandemic.

But more appropriately:
- Eusocial wasps when they get inside a house or room, get too close or go near food or drinks.
- Rats and mice.
- I'm not a huge fan of large vultures or raptors when free-flying or in walk-through aviaries. Probably still results from an incident years ago where a vulture nearly landed on me after miscalculating during a raptor show.

I love cockroaches, I would create a refuge for them. I don't understand why some people hate them, they aren't dangerous nor ugly and they even have inspired funny folklore (the song "La Cucaracha"!).

"The biggest cockroach remains smaller than a kitten" (Me)
If there is a dislike button i would press it on this.
Cockroaches are awful. They're dirty, spreading everywhere, cannot be killed, ruining everything in your life. I hate them, and everytime i see them i want to kill them but i'm too afraid so i'll just go tap on the wall and hope it'll run away to the opposite direction.

Found out about the movie Tusk recently and now am terrified of walruses. Walruses themselves don't scare me, but every time I see one from now on I'll think about that movie. One of the most unsettling films I've ever seen.

While I would press it on this.

One thing is to be scared of animals, but another is to hate them.
Oh, aardvarks are awful, they're dirty, spreading everywhere, cannot be killed, ruining everything in your life....
You can say you hate an animal, but at least don't just compilate a big pile of lies trying to defend your point of view. If you have a phobia it's YOUR mental illness, not a fault of the animals.

Same goes for the absolutely disgusting message of the one that hates centipedes and millipedes. What if I use the same words for giraffes?????

Ok.
As you say it; it is THEIR phobia. THEIR reasons they find them scary.

For me it's slugs.

Absolutely disgusting animals that I preferably avoid by miles. But given my study/future job I have come to terms with them in a way I will jump across them by 50 foot jumps (I swear I can be olympic champion if there were slugs)
Something about them just ticks me completely in the wrong way.

Another is green frogs. And specifically the members of Pelophylax and any green frog looking like it. Toads are okay though... to an extend.
I just am incredibly jumpy with them. I never see them till they start jumping away and it scares the life out of me.

Dogs. The problem is whereas any other animal will flee from a human, I'm never sure what a dog will do. Once I'm convinced a dog is friendly I'm not scared anymore but before that...
Pretty much the same with me, if it's large enough to be dangerous if it turns out to be aggressive.

Got to love the stance that people with phobias are mentally ill and liars :p I'd *strongly* suggest you backtrack on that one - even if you *are* the Man Without Fear yourself, I rather suspect that there isn't a single member of this site other than yourself who doesn't fear something.

I assume we’re just talking about species we’re likely to come into direct contact with in our daily lives. I claim I’m only scared of cockroaches as I’m not likely to come into direct contact with tigers, chimpanzees etc. and therefore have no fear of seeing them within the confines of their exhibit. :p

I don't know why some people find Gorilla more terrifying than the pure unbridled horror that is chimpanzees.
