Animals that you are for some reason scared of (Like really scared)

While I would press it on this.

One thing is to be scared of animals, but another is to hate them.
Oh, aardvarks are awful, they're dirty, spreading everywhere, cannot be killed, ruining everything in your life....
You can say you hate an animal, but at least don't just compilate a big pile of lies trying to defend your point of view. If you have a phobia it's YOUR mental illness, not a fault of the animals.

Same goes for the absolutely disgusting message of the one that hates centipedes and millipedes. What if I use the same words for giraffes?????
We're not allowed to think things are disgusting? I'd find it strange if people described giraffes had the same traits since they're so completely different.

I don't know why some people find Gorilla more terrifying than the pure unbridled horror that is chimpanzees.

With regards to the general public, I think half immediately think of King Kong when they think of gorillas and the other half think of the extensive efforts zoologists go to to reassure people that gorillas are peaceful and tar chimps with the same brush (as gentle, peaceful animals). Most people are amazed when I tell them how dangerous chimps are and that they practice infanticide of each other’s offspring etc.

For the older generations, the chimp tea parties anthropomorphised them into lovable class clowns. What few people realised is these were infants and even the handraised chimps (especially males) became difficult to manage from the age of five onwards.

I personally am really scared by bees and wasps, as the stings on those things (especially wasps) sound kinda painful en-masse. However stories of Africanised Honey bees on a Nat Geo Wild documentary I remember watching (thankfully those things aren’t found in Europe) might have contributed to that fear. However if o were to encounter a highly venomous snake, chimp or hippo in the wild I’d probably be terrified as well.

I’ve grown a small phobia of wasps and hornets ever since I has a dream walking out of my room at night to see hornets eating my cat; I will forever be scared by that dream.

I used to be scared of one specific friends dog. He was very large and would jump on me and was pretty aggressive in a playful way but I was basically terrified and just stayed away from it. After getting my own dog I’m no longer scared of basically any dogs.

Obviously it is impossible for me to not be scared of anything. But there isn't a particular species that haunts me. Sure I wouldn't want to come across venomous snakes, wasps, deadly spiders, loud dogs (such as my aunt's Heidi), but idk if that fear goes as far as being a phobia or anything.

This is a weird one but palythoa and other zoanthids. Palytoxin is nasty stuff.

Blue ringed octopus and sea snakes. Never been in the water with either (and have no desire to). Sea snakes probably more so than the blue ring as sea snakes may actively approach you whereas blue rings won't.

I used to be terrified of dogs as a kid. Had a bad experience with one when I was quite young. I have gotten better with this though, I'm still uncomfortable around dogs but most of the fear is gone.

Snapping Turtles. On my way back from school in kindergarten, I saw a golf ball inside a log, & I reached in & saw the skeleton of one inside the log. I panicked & ran all of the way home. About a week later, I was walking on the sidewalk, & I saw the decomposing corpse of a Snapping Turtle on the sidewalk. Ever since then, I have been terrified of Snapping Turtles.

Then you might not favor this.... Just chilling and wading through the swamp with an Acquaintance trying to get a closer view of a far-away egret and as I was walking around a raised up field structure I happened to spot a couple feet away from me this guy just chilling on land. Didn't even see me though, Funny things, Snapping turtles.

Granted, snapping turtles can be scary when encountered in the field. They're basically like crocodilians with turtle shells.

Hamadryas baboons. Something about the way that they walk. I don't know how to explain it but they're like bears crossed with apes with a lion's mane. and don't get me started on that face :0 the females don't bother me though.

I'm Australian and the birds we have over here can be dangerous *cough cough magpies*. Especially when they give you the evil eye...

Chimpanzees for sure…literally repulsed by them.

Large fish underwater.

Aggressive dogs.

After those specific examples…healthy fear, caution, and respect as the situation dictates for any large and/or dangerous animal.

without a doubt chimpanzees, from afar i can cope with but being up close to them, they petrify me

When I was younger I had a phobia of Chimpanzees as I saw Planet of Apes at too young of an age and was left scarred. As I have gotten older it has developed into more of a cautious respect of them. Safe to say I'd much rather be trapped in a room with a lion or bear than a chimp.

Otherwise, rats and pelicans do my head in, my fight or flight instinct is dialed up to 11 with those two.

Especially when they bare those ferocious jaws.

Pelicans is an interesting one though. What's scary about them? I'm assuming it's their unique beak.
