If Cassowaries scare you, imagine wandering around in their native range trying to find them! Eventually tracked down a male with its chick, when I had less than 30 minutes left in the forest...Cassowaries scare me!

Was it slightly unnerving to encounter one in the wild ?
I know their reputation for aggression is somewhat exaggerated but I think they must still be quite intimidating birds to come face to face with.
In the end it wasn’t unnerving as I was in a vehicle looking down a long straight track, which the birds crossed. I had walked the track previously, knowing they were there, so that gave the heightened senses.

Oh right, I thought you may have been on foot and come across one that way, still that was quite a lucky sighting !

Recently my interest in potoroos and bettongs continues but I've also become intrigued by the Chevrotains / mouse deers (and particularly the Philippine species) and the sengis (and particularly the golden rumped sengi).
The plight of all of these animals in terms of their conservation is very interesting for me and quite important to familiarise myself with too.
