Animals you don't like?

Sorry for this mistake, I meant marine mammals.. To summarise: all intelligent social animals... eventually we should get rid of them in zoos. I don't like it, keeping them, for what that matters.. my two cents.;)

Ok, well as the others have said this is kind of the wrong thread for that. We're mainly talking about animals that we don't like, or don't visit often at zoos rather than ones we might not think are suitable for captivity.

Oké...I don't like the pets corners and other domestic animals.. I like chickens, rabbits and sheep on my plate though.. :-) but not in a zoo. All the rest I like to see, if they are well kept.

I dislike Chimpanzees-they remind me of the teenage chavs you see in every shopping centre on a Saturday-violent loud and obnoxious.

I'm not a big fan of elephants for the same reason.

The other great apes I could spend hours watching. As with pretty much all other animals.

I think like you safariman;I'm not interested in to see farm/pet animals in the zoos.

I can't bear starfish ...... can't think of anything worse than touching them in an aquarium's 'touch pool'.

I don't like big black beetles. Small coloured beetles and ladybirds are fine, but I can't stand looking at a big beetle when I'm gardening. Nothing else seems to bother me.

Haha random, they are quite strange i'll admit!

I especially like the random dislikes/fears on here. I was worried that being a zoochat, everyone would love everything but so far it's been pretty interesting, thanks guys! :D

I am not a Primate person. I love primative Primates like Lemurs, but Monkeys don't excite me. I'm not a huge Ape person either, but with the presense that Great Apes cast, it's hard even for a fan of the scaly animals like myself to not feel sobered by being close to them.

I find the elephants and chimps the least interesting when I visit zoos, and usually rush past them. The only things I would say I have a phobia of is poisonous snakes and spiders, even behind glass! Tarantulas and pythons I'm sweet with. In terms of pets, I can't stand little dogs, they are always very 'yappy' and annoying.

Well GIIP you can use the 'don't touch' option :D

Believe me I do !

They just remind me of a giant slug - urgghh - and have to say I'm not too keen on looking at anenomes etc for a similar reason, I think it's their 'sucker' or 'foot' or whatever the correct term is, stuck on the glass that gives me the creeps.

I also agree with those who've remarked about penguins being boring. I have nothing against them, but they are very common. I'm also not that keen on caged birds of any description .... I can appreciate their beauty but being caged sits rather uneasily with me as (usually, unless it's a huge aviary) their ability to fly is severely curtailed. I know you can extend that argument to other species whose natural behaviour is restricted by space in zoos but it seems more of an issue with birds for me. Consequently I tend to hurry past bird exhibits in zoos ..... though thought Chester's walk through aviary near the rhinos was great.

I don't like spiders, that's not a phobia, but I don't want to have one close to me. I'm not keen on primates. I don't find them really interesting. And I can't stand crows.

I don't hate Mustelids, I am severely phobic. I don't want them all to disappear but I can't stand to be near them, see them or even smell them (in Ferret and Polecat case). I don't know where it comes from but it's an aversion that I have. Then I love things like Cockroaches and Rats :P

I find that rats really aren't as bad as they are made out to be, well domestic ones anyway! Maybe not the sewer kind!

There are no animals I don't like per se (well, I'm pretty afraid of harvestmen, but now we're speaking zoo animals). The animals I find least interesting, though, are domestic farm animals, unless it's some unusual race. I don't really find any interest in zebras either. They're too common in zoos, and I can't see how they should be exciting to watch.

I really don't like external parasites such as leeches, ticks or (especially!) head-lice, but I can admire their biology. I terms of zoos there aren't any animals I "dislike" per se but I don't find myself with much interest in seeing lions or most other big cats, the great apes, elephants...generally the ABC animals. However seeing them in the wild is a whole different kettle of fish -- an animal I would only glance at in a zoo (say, a lion) would get my undivided attention if seen in the wild. It all comes down to context.
