Animals You've Seen That Few Zoochatters Have Seen

Sadly NZ doesn't have a lot of species that are rare overall, so I haven't seen anything that most would consider too impressive, but I doubt most overseas Zoochatters have seen a jewelled gecko (Naultinus gemmeus), which I've seen at the Otago Museum. Tuatara are rare overseas as well. I need to go to Orokonui in spring to see Otago skinks too, but that hasn't happened yet so it doesn't count.

I originally put margay on my list thinking it was a real rarity but then I found out that, although it isn't particularly common, it is far from scarce and probably shouldn't be a contender for this list

Would depend on where you are. I've seen hundreds of them. I could probably name a dozen Zoochatters off the top of my head who have seen albatross species.

During the 1990s Avifauna Vogelpark, in the Netherlands, had a black-footed albatross; I saw it there several times and, I assume, a number of other ZooChat members did too.

It's rare if you've never left the US. We only have three in the whole country last I checked.
