Animals You've Seen That Few Zoochatters Have Seen

  1. Cincy only has one? Did the other die?
  2. What other places have them and how questionable are they?

I've heard there's only one left - given the age it wouldn't be surprising.

Zootastic Park of Lake Norman and Southlands Safari had them within the last few months, Saginaw had them in 2021 at least.

Edit: realized Saginaw is the dealer, not the zoo in this case. My mistake there, though it also shows aardwolves are being imported in small numbers.

Zootastic Park’s website doesn’t say they have aardwolves, but they have Ti-Ligers and Li-Ligers???!!! (And gibbons and spider monkeys living together, mass hysteria)
Yeah… that’s pretty dubious.

Their species held list changes frequently.

Where are you getting this information from?
And if Aardwolves really are on the rise outside of the AZA, does that mean there's a chance that a certain southwestern facility with a somewhat sketchy reputation and is already home to several unpopular carnivores could acquire some in the near-future?
*cough* Wildlife World Zoo *cough*

USDA reports primarily. And yes it is a possibility, though I wouldn't hold your breath about it. They're increasing yes, but not in significant numbers.

How would anyone here be able to answer this?

TBH it would be pretty cool, even if theyre not kept in the AZA. It would be awesome to see more in AZA zoos tho

I have seen all these except for the monk seal and the smalltooth sandtiger shark. I completely missed the shark's arrival two days before my actual visit to the aquarium. Seems like I didn't see it during my visit, but neither did I look for it because I had no idea it was there. Unfortunate event.
