I don't know where you can now. I've seen them at Special Memories and Minnesota Zoos, the former of which is now closed and the latter no longer keeps them.Western. Spilogale gracilis
Where can you see the Eastern?

Mountain zebra are fairly common in Europe, i'm not sure about other continents.idk if they are rare or not, but I just realized that I've seen Hartmann's mountain zebra in Ueno Zoo before it died.
Hartmann's Mountain Zebra are not rare, they're in plenty of zoos in Europe and North America.idk if they are rare or not, but I just realized that I've seen Hartmann's mountain zebra in Ueno Zoo before it died.
Let's change that. Here are three rare species that I saw this year:This thread has really devolved since it started. We started off with users sharing super cool rarities they've seen over the years, now people are just listing off random animals they've seen and hoping someone will tell them that they're rare.

I'm glad to hear that! They are never exported in the aquarium trade and this is one of few that ever entered Europe. Glad that they are so commonly found near their native area.I wouldn't consider short bigeye for this. Almost every (every?) aquarium in New England has them, even the tiniest ones I've been to.

Was this in the Yambaru Wildlife Conservation Center? It seems like a too good of a photograph to be taken in the wild.I'm guessing not many people have seen these?![]()
No, at Yanbaru Kuina Ecological Exhibition and Learning Facility Kuina no Mori, otherwise known as the Okinawa Rail Ecology Center. They have a single specimen on show. Was this in the Yambaru Wildlife Conservation Center? It seems like a too good of a photograph to be taken in the wild.

I didn't know they are rare but I've also seen chousinghas, mugger crocodiles, and Tibetan wolves.I've seen a couple of purebred Bengal tigers, some of them white. I don't how common they are but I've also seen a few indian grey wolves, hollock gibbons and striped hyenas.
That must have been an exciting experience.I have seen Tibetan Wolf in the wild; a single individual running alongside our minibus in Qhinghai!
I saw Tibetan / Mongolian Wolves at Zurich the day before they left to Tierpark Biel, making me quite possibly the last ZooChat member to have ever seen them at Zurich. The fact that I saw them half an hour before the zoo’s closure after they evaded me earlier in the day only made the experience even more satisfactory.I didn't know they are rare but I've also seen chousinghas, mugger crocodiles, and Tibetan wolves.
