Just wondering. what kind of animals do you guys have at home? pets and all? Was listening to somehting the other day that said there are aspects of people that make them pick cats or dogs over eachother. The guy talking seemed pretty oblivious to the fact that people do own other animals as well as cats and dogs. My Aunt has a purebred Chocolate Lab, Purebred German Sheperd, three birds in their childcare centre and six cats, they are also looking at chickens and a pig for the childcare centre they own... Also what animals, anything would you choose to have as a pet/on your property if you could.

I have 8 horses (mixture)
3 cows (Jersey cross limousin)
13 Very Random sheep (3 black)
3 rats
1 dog (pitbull bull arab, bull mastiff/everything with bull in the name...lol. oh and dad was a purbred border collie)
Soon to have 1 Diamond Python, Spinifex Mice, Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

And although not my favourite animal, if I could have only one special animal. I would love a small group of giraffe. always wanted to look out my back door /balcony and feed the giraffe or watch them graze. What about yourselves?

I have 3 budgies, 1 peachface, several king quail. If I lived somewhere other than where I do I would have lots of other birds, from finches, doves to various parrots. I like both cats and dogs but wouldn't want one.

My animals at present are over 100 reptiles plus 6 Enghish Mastiffs, soon to be more.

4xcattle plus.5x2 (two pregnant)
1 sheep that thinks its a cow

Hmmm yeah we have one little black lamb that thinks it's a person. She was attacked by a fox which couldn't pull her through the fence and my dog scared it off. hand raised, if she's in the house yard she just walks right up onto the verandah and into the kitchen looking for food. The horses often pop their heads through the raise back door looking for an apple. and well we used to have about 50 chooks all but one died in one night after a fox attack... she learned quick, she now lives in the dogs run, often snuggle up, she gives him the odd egg and he keeps her safe. (makes a good argument for banning dogs like him doesn't it lol... and that was sarcasm just in case.)

Excuse my ignorance Zoo_Boy but whats a Dachie?

Whoops one of those little dogs with short legs that i cant spell!

At the moment I we have 2 dogs, 2 cats and a pet lamb, more a pet sheep it needs to be taken back to the mob as it has eaten my vegi garden. Inside I have a Murray cod I have had one year who is about 20 cm, and my kids had a goldfish in their tank but I put in a yabee and a shrimp in. The goldfish just disapeared one night. I did not think the yabee (small) could catch it let alone eat it all in one night.

I have had pet fawns and kangaroos in the past

well i have no idea how glyn keeps all those animals in sydney!

i got nuthin - a fish tank with a few danios that have never died and some goldfish in the pond in the backyard - none of which i remember to feed on a regular basis!!

hey i dont actually live in sydney, i live in the hunter valley, so theres plenty of room. ;) (i have neve rbothered to change it from when i got back from london). but there are farms in sydney too, waiting until a developer comes knocking on the door with a cheque. ;)

I currently keep and breed a variety of small non-domestic rodents (Spiny Mice, African Dwarf Dormice, Acacia Rats, Brazilian or Wild Cavies, et al.), endangered pheasants (Edwards'), parrots, terrapins and three species of cockroach (Madagascar Hissing, Death's Head, Cuban Burrowing). It is interesting the debate between cats and dogs. I like both cats and dogs, but I prefer cats. As a very general rule people who are into the arts usually prefer cats, people who are very sporty generally prefer dogs. I know there are plenty of people who do not conform to this stereotype, but it holds true in my case, as all kinds of sport is anathema to me, but I do like the arts (in my particular case, creative writing, theatre, etc.).
