United Kingdom Another mystery Image from the UK dated 1967 ?

On this website there are some images of polar bears at Chessington going back to the 1940s. None look like candidates.

That ‘stork’ is a Sarus Crane. God only knows what they’re doing with the vacuum cleaner

Apparently, rather than clipping the birds wings, they employed Mrs Dyson to suck escaping cranes out of the sky. The one pictured has just been recaptured after taking to the air and heading for the perimeter fence.

Sounds like a plan. That (accidentally) happened to a Zebrafinch I knew. It didn’t survive the experience.

I agree. There was not any ledge close to the wall. In the winter of 1963 I helped break the ice at the foot of the wall, as the animals were almost within reach of the top! My accommodation was only about 100 metres away from the exhibit.

Don't think this is Chessington!

I believe this is Chessington. The brickwork pattern is identical with postcards I have of the polar bears in this enclosure. The coping ledge along the top is exactly the same too. I think it was taken from an angle that makes it look like the bear is closer to the wall than it is.

I still vote Chessington- brickwork pattern and coping are identical...
