Another new zoo fanatic

Hi all... Came across the sight recently and am hooked. Who new they were so many zoo fanatics out there?

Got my undergrad in zoology, now work for National Geographic in Washington D.C, though in operations as opposed to conservation (can't win em all). Fortunately, my work enables me to travel extensively and I always try and squeeze in at least one new zoo when ever I'm on the road, as many of you do!

Home zoo: Smithsonian National Zoo
Favorite zoo: Singapore, far and away
Next new zoo: Madrid

I've been to a fair number, mostly here on the east coast of the US, and maybe 10 in europe (Berlin, Barcelona, London, Paris among them). Last few trips have been in Asia, so my most recent international zoos have been Beijing, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Seoul (which was an unusual one!). Been to a few in Latin America, and some in Australia too. As a traveler, I like to see how different cultures treat/respect animals. Also find zoos are a great way to be amongst the locals.

Takes some hard work and a fair bit of luck to get in at NG, but I always tell folks to go on the website and apply for something, you just never know!
