Would any of you Antwerp regulars happen to have a photo of the Bornean Orang Utan, Tuan (now at Chester)?

I haven't seen him yet...

Following this Tuan photo- can you post a couple of (fullbody) shots of the female Eastern Gorilla 'Amohoro'?

Does anyone know if its decided which race she should belong too?

Many thanks for those. Looking at them which species do people think she belongs to?

I'm far from sure, but from these photos I think I'd say graueri - although I am sure that my opinion isn't worth much :)
She is rather more masculine looking than the other females I saw at Antwerp and Chester all those years ago. This is partly due to her rather longer hair, which reminds me of the graueri males. The shape of her nose, as far as I can see, is consistent with graueri.
Has anyone studied enough graueri specimens to understand the full variability of this taxon? Prof Groves, perhaps?

Alan

Yep, she is a graueri allright.

And Dr. Groves at ANZ is a much sought after authority in taxonomic issues ... on lots of taxa.

Your opinion is much valued...;)

I don't know what to make of her. In photos 1&2 she looks like 'graueri', while in photo 3 she looks more 'beringeii':confused: Could she have come from the Bwindi Forest population of 'beringei'- this apparently is a sort of intermediate form and I believe shows characteristics of both the others?

I've seen virtually all the 'Graueri' speciments that have been in recent captivity(at Chester, Antwerp- except the young male that died, Oklahoma) although they were all a long time ago, I still have plenty of photos too.. But it still doesn't help much...

-A Champmanzebra gave birth to a female, called Jorilani.
-The two nile crocodile's will be sent to Diergaarde Blijdorp.Instead there will come 6(2.4) Spectacled Caiman from Parc paradisio.
-The 1.4 giraffes go to Planckendael. 0.2 Rothschild from Belfast will arrive later.

The crocodile exibith is very small. But good for caimans. Yes, the kordofan(Giraffa Camelopadaris Antiquorum) will leave the zoo. Two of the feamels are pregnant!

The girafs from the Zoo will go to the Planckendael park because they open a brand new, large exhibit for them in june. The Antwerp Zoo will receive a mother Giraf with her child from the Belfast zoo in Ireland.
I think the crocs also are moving to the Rotterdam zoo because they're starting with a big project over there. They also will get crocs from a zoo in Germany I think...

Today 2 of the giraffes were moved to Planckendael. Tommorow they do another 3 animals. On the 13th of June, 2 Rotschilgiraffes form Belfast will come. These animals get more space because they get the space from the Anoa's.
