Any SoCal Zoochatters interested in meeting at LA Zoo this summer?

Hello. I know that there is a healthy population of Zoochatters in the Los Angeles vicinity. Would anyone be interested in meeting at the LA Zoo to see the new Asian elephant exhibit and check progress on the new reptile house?

Sure, as long as it fits the right schedule. I think after LAIR opens would be perfect. The weather will be much nicer then as well.
 
My cousin lives out there and is a long-time member of the L.A. Zoo, an outstanding zoo (and other subject) photographer, and occasional ZooChat watcher. But for some reason I cannot get him to create a ZooChat account. So cousin, if you happen to see this, why don't you create a login and meet up with your fellow zoo lovers?

Does anybody know what the latest projected opening date of the LAIR is? I have heard fall 2011 and early 2012, so not sure what the current thinking is.
 
It will most likely open in fall of 2011. The actual exhibit is projected to be finished at the end of summer, but it will take a month or two to get the animals ready for opening.
