Any Zoos you plan on visiting next year?

Very late to this thread, as it's this year now haha

I have at least three trips planned for the coming months.

LOW COUNTRIES TOUR - April 2019

This shall be done together with @MagpieGoose, @Nisha and another friend of ours who isn't present on Zoochat. The following zoos will be done over an 11 day itinerary:

- DAY 1: Travel to Eindhoven, Antwerp Zoo on the way
- DAY 2: BestZOO, Zie-ZOO (likely with @Mr. Zootycoon)
- DAY 3: Beekse Bergen
- DAY 4: Travel to Arnhem, Duisburg Zoo and Krefeld Zoo on the way
- DAY 5: Burgers' Zoo
- DAY 6: Apenheul
- DAY 7: Travel to Amsterdam, Uilen- en Dierenpark De Paay and Ouwehands Dierenpark on the way
- DAY 8: Dolfinarium, Artis (with a quick pit stop at AAP enroute between the two)
- DAY 9: Blijdorp
- DAY 10: REST DAY
- DAY 11: Travel home, Pairi Daiza on the way (possibly meeting @Vision whilst we are there)

Otherwise I have two trips planned in May, a long weekend in Jersey with family (of course visiting Jersey Zoo), and a tentative trip to Berlin planned with @devilfish (so Berlin Zoo and Berlin Tierpark)

Apart from that I don't see myself getting anywhere outside of the UK until after the summer....at which point I at the very least have a second trip to Pairi Daiza currently being discussed...

It should also be noted that out of all of those the only new collections for me will be Best, Zie, De Paay and Jersey :)

Well the Low Countries tour went very well, as those of you that are friends with me off of this forum know! We had a great time and enjoyed every (bar De Paay) zoo we visited. An unintentional stop-off was at Micropia, which I had never visited before and was very much worth it (tardigrades!). Jersey was also massively great, and I enjoyed finally seeing black lion tamarins and more than three aye-ayes at a single collection!

As far as Berlin with @devilfish is concerned, sadly that hasn't come about due to an issue neither of us could help...but I did throw in a rather unplanned stint in Belgium with @TeaLovingDave over the summer in which we visited Pairi Daiza and Antwerp together.

Planned for the rest of this year I have another stint in Pairi, plus Planckendael, with a friend of mine, and at the end of this month I shall be returning to a few of the zoos myself and @ThylacineAlive visited a year ago...specifically Prague, Jihlava (where I shall finally meet @HOMIN96!) and Wroclaw. And my travel companion for that trip is........@TeaLovingDave once again :D

I plan on visiting both Berlin Zoo (Zoologischer Garten Berlin) and Tierpark Berlin next year! :D
And we probably will fit in Tierpark Hagenbeck (Hamburg), Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover (Already been there once) and a few other smaller zoos in the area around where my girlfriend lives.

She lives really close to Weltvogelpark Walsrode so I plan to get the season card this season too and go there many many times ;)

It's a school trip, so the only zoo in Berlin we'd have time visit is Berlin Zoo.

That's a shame but I suppose that's the best one to visit if you can only visit one (unless you're more into ungulates). Personally I think Zoo is the better zoo though I prefer Tierpark if that makes any sense.

Thats my plan, but what species would I miss from going in the winter
Only the farm and the butterfly house. The only interesting species you would be missing is the Dakota Skipper. In the winter, the animals are all much more active.

Make sure not to miss the Mussel Cabin, either. It exhibits some very rare mussel species.

I've been to 12 new zoos for me this year, but I don't think i'll be making any more fresh additions before 2020. Saying that, I have a week off in November to consider, but I might just go for a beach break instead, near a zoo.

I think I'll be doing 2 zoo trips next year. Each for a week or so, maybe a bit longer. In May, I think I'm going to plan on going down to Texas and hitting all the major collections, along with a good chunk of the smaller ones, once the school year ends and I'm done teaching for the summer. I don't have anything planned really, but I for see spending a week or two doing that. The other trip will be to Ohio in August probably and depending on time a few surrounding cities in other states. I went to Toledo and the African Safari in Ohio this past summer, but have the other major zoos and the smaller ones to do.

Toledo is worth a revisit as well, for the Promedica Museum of Natural History.

Already saw it, but yes it is excellent. By this past summer I meant like 2 months ago in August. My zoo trip looked very similar to yours this past August at least the Michigan and down to Toledo part. In fact, I think I only missed you by a day or two in many places.

Vasco da Gama is well worth a look - lots of interesting local species when I was there. We visited Vasco da Gama and the Oceanarium on the same day with a bit of sightseeing in between, so it doesn't need lots of time but is well worth the trip. There's some good general tourist stuff like the Torre de Belem on the way in and out of town as well. :)

Zoos I hope to visit next year: Columbus Zoo, Saint Louis Zoo, Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, and revisiting the Cincinnati Zoo.

I'm thinking of visiting Singapore next year to visit all the collections, and noticed Johor Zoo in Malaysia seems fairly accessible. Has anyone visited this place and is it worth visiting?

I haven't, and I don't imagine it is very good. However, it would be quite eye-opening, and you never know what you might see. Also, it's possible it could surprise us all.

If you have time to spare, it might be worth looking further afield.

Great thanks. Any recommendations?

If you're thinking big I would say Tokyo. A week in Singapore and a week there, with a mix on zoo and non-zoo activities, would be pretty much the best Asia can offer to the zoonerd.

Alternatively, you could think about going to somewhere like Sabah, for nature-watching. In terms of wildlife tourism, and ease of viewing, Sabah must be the best in SE Asia.

Another option would be to head north, through Johor and on to Melaka, Kuala Lumpur and Penang. That would offer a mixture of (honestly less interesting) zoos, culture and wildlife if you want to seek it out.

Cambodia offers Angkor Wat, deservedly TripAdvisor's no. 1 destination worldwide.

Vietnam is great fun. It doesn't offer much for zoonerds (not nothing), but is well worth it anyway. I do think it is better done over a period of more than two weeks, perhaps via bus or even bike.

Indonesia is a whole other story; you can pretty much find whatever you are looking for there, be it winderness, clubbing or temples. Zoos there are a bit rough around the edges, but typically have very enticing collections.
