Anybody want to visit Middle Earth?

I can't view it for some reason. But it would have to be better than the crappy animation one they were showing last month.

Hmmm...... The link works fine here. Go to YouTube and search for it - it was on the home page yesterday so it should be easy to find.

that one was horrific wasn't it? Really cringe-worthy!

The new Lords Of The Rings one is fun. I saw it a couple of days ago.

Especially so when you consider how good last year's World Cup themed one was. I don't like rugby, but I really enjoyed that one.

I am guessing that The Silmarillion is also LOTR too?

I don't know what Silmarillion is. I should have said the advert was a Middle Earth one rather than a Lord Of The Rings one, because that would have been much more accurate. It isn't specifically a Hobbit advert any more than it is a Lord Of The Rings one, it has just been made because The Hobbit is due to be released.
 
Only the last chapter of the Silmarillion is Lord of the Rings. Sheesh, doesn't everyone know that :)

Yes, that's accurate then. Middle Earth sounds apt.

The Silmarillion is one of Tolkien's other books that I suppose one could say is a sort of prequel to LOTR and sequel to The Hobbit. When he wrote The Silmarillion, it got rejected by the publishers, so he expanded it to become LOTR. After his death, his son kind of cobbled together some of his father's works to become The Silmarillion. I think that the story behind the books is more interesting than the actual books. :D
 
In essence, the Silmarillion is the mythical history of the Elves. It is also considered to be on of the most difficult books to read in the English language alongside Joyce's Finnagan's Wake.
