Some very exciting news - Bristol will soon be importing a pair (1.1) of Long Beaked Echidna's. They are coming all the way from Port Moresby Nature Park in New Guinea. The current plan is to put them in the Nocturnal house. More specifically the current Quoll enclosure. The Quolls will move into the Mongoose exhibit and the Mongoose will get a new enclosure elsewhere in the zoo. These will be the only Long Beaked Echidna's in the Northern Hemisphere (the only other individual onshow apart from at Port Moresby is a single male at Taronga). The information came from a friend who works at Bristol and is helping to design the enclosure. They hope to receive them within 12 months
