Are These in Captivity? #2

Do you want to include other invertebrates as well?
This is what I can think of right now:
- Viridasius fasciatus
- Viridasius sp. 'sylvestriform'
- Peucetia lucasi
- Trichonephila inaurata madagascariensis
- Antherina suraka
- Brancsikia freyi
- Brancsikia areoplana
- Polyspilota aeruginosa
- Elliptorhina chopardi
- Achrioptera manga

- Helicophanta magnifica

Are Wattled Curassows (Crax globulosa) held in NA? And if so, do we know how many holders? I’m sure there’s a thread with their holders listed somewhere, but I can’t seem to find it.

I think they are all considered full species now, pure tortoises of C. vicina, C. vandenburghi, C. microphyes, C. porteri, are kept and I believe a few C. darwini and C. hoodensis are still around aswell.
A recent paper (2021, open access here: Ancient mitogenomics elucidates diversity of extinct West Indian tortoises | Scientific Reports ) suggested genetic divergences between islands were not as deep as previously thought, and suggested they would be better considered subspecies of a single species.

I've seen a good handful of articles go by suggesting a relump after further DNA analysis, either to a couple species or a single one. Funny how that works.
Yeah, there does seem to be a rough split into two Eastern/Western clades, that could be regarded as species but if the molecular clock calculations are correct it's still a relatively recent divergence time.

In a similar vein: What are common Australian invertebrates commonly kept in Captivity?
Perhaps the most commonly kept species I can think of is Extatosoma tiaratum, the Australian giant walking stick, prickly stick, Macleay's spectre, and a few dozen other common names.

As of September they are held at:
Brookfield - 1.0
Dallas World Aquarium 5.7
Houston 2.3.1
Staten Island 1.1.1
White Oak 2.2

10 of the 26 birds are offspring of a single pair at DWA. Great the birds exist but not super helpful to genetic diversity!

How many holders are there of Anhinga in NA? ZTL has one current holder listed, but I’m wondering if there are more since NA holdings are still being updated there.

I'm aware of at least three other possibilities that at least did hold them - Flamingo Gardens, Georgia Sea Turtle Center, and Zoo Miami. Might be a few more in rescue places.

Does anyone have a good way of looking into which corals and anemones are available in captivity? I want to make a Caribbean reef aquarium (in a fantasy zoo) but researching it through the Zoochat gallery is much more difficult for corals than it is for crustaceans

Take a look at some aquarium livestock retailer websites such as Liveaquaria, Quality Marine, and Dejong Marinelife. That is most likely the easiest way to go about that.
