Are there Spotted Owls (Strix occidentalis) kept anywhere?
Sequoia Park Zoo in California has/had one. I think a rescue center or two also has one.

Brush-tailed bettongs are fairly common in American zoos. So, I was looking through the LA Zoo and saw some interesting additions they wanted to add into the zoo
Blue ringed octopus
Banded sea krait
Cone Snail
Painted anglerfish
Brush-tailed rat kangaroo
Does anyone know of these animals in captivity? I think I may of heard of a tropical fish shop in Florida getting the octopus (for some reason)
I'm pretty sure Sequoia Park still has Winky the spotted owl, I glanced at their social media posts and they've posted a handful of photos in the past year. If you're ever in that part of California there's a nice little aviary in the new-ish watershed exhibit, and I think Winky has been used as an ambassador animal on occasion as well.

Are there gundis, viscachas, or Chacoan maras in North America? I see photos of them in European collections, and I’m hoping there’s some closer to me.

See this thread: Catalogue of Penguins in Captivity WorldwideSince the little blue penguin has been split into two species, I’ve realized that most individuals kept in the US and Japan are Eudyptula novaehollandiae, the Australian species. Does anyone outside of New Zealand keep the New Zealand species Eudyptula minor?
