Are Zoo weddings trendy right now?

While Zoo weddings have always been a thing, anyone noticed an upsurge in them recently? It may be because I am a Zoo person and in my mid 20s (when a lot of people get married). I wanted to see if anyone else is noticing it or if it is just me.

Yes, there has been.

When my plant clubs got kicked out of their botanical garden meeting places it was because instead of getting $200 from us they could get several thousand for weddings. I can see why zoos might go after this kind of income. Plus there is a backlog at a lot of other possible venues, at least where I am.

I hate this by the way. Inevitably half the place gets taken over by the smug bride who has no idea how to wear her hideously expensive, and typically only worn once dress), her idiot wedding party, rude guests, and pushy caterers and wedding planners. They will even try to push you out of places that you are allowed to be in (I have a really funny story about a wedding planner trying to keep me out of the only public bathroom at an art museum).

My local zoo has been advertising weddings for a few years now and even hosts an annual wedding bazaar thing. Fortunately, though, the wedding is NOT allowed to take over the zoo. They try to plan as many as possible for after-hours and the main part of the reception is either in the Stone House Pavillion or the event center.

Yes I think it is increasing. Just like the Phoenix Zoo referenced above, my local Reid Park Zoo does it after hours. Since the zoo closes at 4pm (3pm in summer), it is not that hard to accommodate wedding parties.

Yes, weddings are wonderfully popular at the Saint Louis Zoo. Typically they are after-hours events in diverse locations, and don't generally affect the experience of zoo goers.

But really, I think this corresponds with an uptick in recent years of people getting married at cultural locations vs churches & rental halls. Historic sites and museums are also hosting more weddings.
