Melbourne Zoo Article about Rigo

Spotted this article about Rigo: Gorillas in a tryst! Tired Rigo has to lie down after mating with four females in a day following 16 years in a cage on his own | Mail Online
Any one heard anything further about this? There's the clanger in it about Motaba's son Yakini being female and in with Rigo so just wondering if it's all suspect.

This article is mostly inaccurate, I don't even know where to begin with the amount of incorrect information in it.

Rigo was introduced only to females. Yakini is with his father Motaba and his brother, not in with Rigo. Rigo has only been observed mating Yuska and that was many months ago.

Also I question the authenticity of an article that calls a female gorilla a "silverback".

Most of you guys are pretty up to speed on the gorilla group/s at Melbourne Zoo and can back me up on this... I wonder what the zoo thinks of this article??!!

Confirmed with MZ that the story is nonsense. Yuska remains the only female Rigo has definitely mated, though keepers think he *may* have also mated with Johari.

Its a total load of nonsense. Ashamed its a British Newspaper but 'the Mail' is pretty rubbish nowadays. One of the worst 'zoo' stories I've een in a long while for innaccuracies.
