Is there any idea on what’s going where the red pandas are now if they’re moving to the old macaque enclosure?

Nope! Plus any future development here is ..., as yet under embargo. You all just have to set it out and marvel at the current renovation works (former Primate Rock, Madagascar/Red Ruffed Lemur area and the Aquarium - which has been closed for a good number of years ... and is current the biggest building/renovation project and set to open at some point in time ...).

I believe the present female will stay in the current enclosure. She is already old (almost 19 years old) so they don't want to move her. The new enclosure should then house a new group of red pandas. Artis has already mentioned that there will be no breeding in that enclosure with either the pandas or the small-clawed otters. They will either be non-breeding pairs or bachelor groups.

According to the masterplan, the current red panda enclosure will become part of a new penguin enclosure in the future. But if and when that will happen....

It was on the 2024 thread, but the page has sadly been removed:

Artis has published an updated version of the Masterplan 2030. A few highlights:

- The construction of a multi-storey car park. A new reptile building will then be built on part of the old car park as well as a fourth pond with a water purification garden. There is also room for a new elephant bull pen and outdoor enclosure.

- The penguin enclosure will become a water garden. The penguins will get a new enclosure.

- A ‘primate hill’ will be built at the back of the zoo.

If it’s been removed from the artis website I’m guessing that they may be making changes to the plan?

That could be. But they recently completely redesigned the website, so that could also be the reason it's gone.

It also says on the front page that it is a living document and that is the 2024 version so it’s understandable that it isn’t there now.

During my visit today, I heard that the zoo's last (male) Ankole Longhorn was euthanized, the animal suffered from age-related illnesses. The carcass was fed to the lions and vultures.

There are new red pandas coming to artis. The red panda who is already there is very old. He or she will stay in this enclosure.

Artis and Ecomare have recently done an animal trade. Artis' last Northern gannet has moved to Ecomare's colony, meaning there are now 5 Northern gannet colonies left in European zoos.

In return, Ecomare has given multiple fish and Anemones to Artis for their (soon to be) newly renovated aquarium. Ecomare has a near-exclusively European collection of sealife, so we can assume Artis' new aquarium will have at least one North Sea tank

I'll be in Amsterdam in two weeks. The main zoological goals are Burgers and Apenheul, but I can't leave without having a look at the local zoo. Are striped skunks, wreathed hornbills and ocellated turkeys still visible?

Wreathed hornbills can be seen in the second hall of the bird house, usually near the roof. The Ocellated turkeys are found in a smaller building near the pheasantry and quite visible, the Striped skunks are held with the Northern raccoons but I've never seen them in that enclosure

The striped Skuns are almost always visible around 15:15/15:30 when the keepers are feeding the animals. When this happens the skunk comes out of his burrow.

Artis is going to expand the indoor chimpanzee enclosure. By adding the current visitors' area and an adjoining storage area, it will increase about threefold in size. It is currently 65.5 square metres and will become about 170 square metres after the renovation.

There will also be a research area and an education room for visitors. From a covered gallery, visitors will be able to observe the chimpanzees. Work will start this month and is expected to last until September.

Although I do think the better option would've been to stop with the species, I'm glad they're investing in a better enclosure for the species
