Last Saturday I went to Artis just in time before the third lockdown.
The Grey-handed Night Monkeys (Aotus lemurinus griseimembra) are now in the small mammal house, I do believe that recently a baby was born. Not 100% sure if they changed their male, because so far I am aware Artis only had 1 female and her two sons (one of which is actually the father of the other).
Some news from the reptile house:
-The San Francisco gartersnakes (Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia) that arrived from Allwetterzoo Münster earlier this year are now on display. A total of 4 snakes can be seen in a small scale enclosure in the nursery part of the reptile house. According to the signage these snakes were born on 15-06-2019, while I believed that they were actually born this year..
-Another addition to the nursery is a two-year old green tree python (Morelia viridis), born on the 23rd of May 2018 in Artis.
-The Tokay geckos are back in the reptile house divided over two enclosures. Two live together with McCord's snake-necked turtles and Chinese water dragons, the other three live together with the Reticulated python. Also a few youngsters can be found in one of the smaller terrariums located opposite from the nursery.
