Zurich Zoo is located upon the city of Zurich, wich is next to Lake Zurich, and on the opposide of this lake, there's Rapperswil Children's Zoo, which is a zoo owned and created by a circus. Both are home to Asian elephants.

I hope so as well. Also this likely will be, considering both bulls are fairly genetically valuable and one is a proven breeder.
 
Does someone know where Kanvar will move ? Koln wouldn't be a bad place for him I think

I think there is a news release somewhere. I would prefer Kanvar to go to another breeding group but with submissive cows.

possible? Aung Bo has three surviving offspring, two of which are females. The oldest female is 6. And I believe Sundara is pregnant again.
 
Some other proven breeders could be worth to move : Thai from Zurich, Upali from Le Pal, Maurice from Amersfoort, Sibu from Mierlo, Po Chin from Pairi Daiza and Tonsak from Kolmarden. They all have at least one living child in the zoo they currently live, except for Tonsak, but the breeding conditions don't seem to be the best at Kolmarden for a so precious bull. And some zoos house breeding females but don't house any bull, like Hagenbeck, Hannover or Amsterdam. I hope some of these bulls will move soon, as they are all quite genetically valuable (except maybe for Po Chin and Sibu).

I think so because his physique and attitude are adequate.

Upali has already reproduced a lot, it is genetically sufficiently present. I think Maurice's physique is not impressive enough for dominant females. Po Chin cannot be introduced to Planckendael, two of the young females are his half-sisters. The same is true for Sibu which has several genetic parents in Planckendael. Thai is interesting but Aung Bo's eldest daughter will mature before Thai's, the priority in the next two years is to move Aung Bo. And I think the plan is to continue breeding Tonsak in Kolmarden as long as Bua is still breeding.

For me the fact that certain groups of females are without males is a phenomenon in preparation to be able to place many new adult males in the future.

Another though on Aung Bo. Given his participation in the vaccine trial at Chester Zoo, they may be reluctant to transfer him while the trial is still in the genesis phase.

If Sundara (2004) is pregnant again, there'd be no use for a new bull until they want to breed from Indali (2016), which could easily be another four years away.

@ZCChip do you know the due date of Sundara’s Calf? Sundara is already a prolific breeder. For a Cowe to only be 18 and be pregnant with her 4th Calf is impressive.

Sundara being pregnant has not been confirmed. It's just a guess that she is considering it's been two years since she had Riva and the fact that Chester's cows usually calve once every 3-4 years.
 
It has been confirmed that Mekong is indeed the sire of Sandry's new calf

"The elephant is doing wonderfully," said the children's zoo on Monday. Exactly at 03:51 on Saturday night, the 23-year-old elephant cow Sandry gave birth to her second calf. The birth was "extraordinarily quick, the newborn is in good health," it says.

At 4 a.m. the little elephant made his first attempts to stand and walk. And a few hours later he tried to drink from his mother. Kalaya, Sandry's older daughter, also watched the birth. The father is the 40-year-old elephant bull Mekong, who comes from Vietnam."
