Kanvar mated with Kai-Mook earlier this year. Planckendael hopes to find out this autumn whether this was successful. If so, he may stay on as a breeding bull.
For the time being, there will also be no new bull in Rotterdam. There will only be another bull when the extension to the enclosure is finished.

I'm crossing my fingers that these couplings will be successful. Does this also mean that no destination has been found for the potential transfer of Kanvar ?
I don't think anything has been said about this publicly, so I don't know.
I can reliably say that Kanvar will probably remain at Planckendael for the time being. His crate remains, but he's with the herd and is given some time the crate training has been on hold. To me it seems like he lacks some skill, so with time it's gonna work out. Their are currently no pregnancies previous mounting didn't amount to anything.
Dublin’s a strong possibility. It wouldn’t be the first time we saw a Chester to Dublin bull move too!
Looking at the herd members that will be remaining it does seem Dublin are preparing to acquire a new bull following the departure of half of their herd to the USA. They will have five females (the youngest being seven), so it would be the perfect time to receive a new bull.
Belfast Zoo have confirmed that they intend to go out of Asian Elephants for "welfare reasons". The two females they currently hold (Yhetto and Dhunja) will be going to Arnhem once arrangements can be made.

At Belgrade Zoo, 58-year-old Asian elephant cow Twiggy died on 4 September.

Both females left for Sofia Zoo this morning. In spring 2024, Zoo Augsburg will be housing three bulls that will come from different European zoos.

Extremely upsetting news, grand cow Irma at the Rotterdam Zoo has been euthanized due to a general decline in health/age related issues, just days after her 53rd birthday 
This leaves Rotterdam with only 4 elephants, Irma's daughter Bangka, Bangka's daughter Faya and son Rajik, and Faya's son Maxi.

sad news indeed. I still remember her c section when they had to remove her dead calf by Alexander. How long ago was that?!
she leaves behind a legacy though and usa will be welcoming her daughter and grandchildren. So her genetics will continue in different areas.
She lost two calves in 2007 and 2009 - not sure which you are referring too.

I've heard rumors that both Maha Kumari and Kungrao are expecting calves sometime in 2024 with the sire being Fahim, and it wouldn't surprise me if Surin was also expecting, and in a recent video it looks like Maha Kumari is showing breast development

Flapperne skal primært udfylde en praktisk funktion, men det er helt vidunderligt at opleve hvilken berigelse det også giver elefanterne at skulle undersøge og forholde sig til noget nyt.
Ps. Den skarpe observatør vil nok bemærke, at der kommer til at fise en del varme ud for neden, fordi vi har fået fat i nogle for korte flapper. Derfor sætter vi snart en forlængelse på i bunden "
