Asian Elephants in Europe 2023

I know that Turkey technically isn’t a prt of Europe, but here it is listed under Europe and the news I am about to bring regards to the transfer of an individual from an EAZA zoo so I think it is somewhat relevant to this thread:

Izmir Wildlife Park will be sending away their middle calf Deniz (9 years ild) to Gaziantep to accompany up with male Gabi. The announcement from the Izmir Municipality (which owns and manages the zoo) does not refer anything about EAZA or a studbook.
Although this a very good move I would prefer if Gabi was sent to Sasali to breed with Deniz, instead of Deniz moving to Gaziantep as she would have the support of her mother, and sisters, plus her uncle also lives with Gabi...

Interesting news. I agree with Mr. Ivory, I would much prefer if Gabi would go to Izmir, and assuming that they are only able to handle one bull, then send Winner off to Gaziantep to keep Pili company, as opposed to what’s happening, but alas.

Also interesting that they’re sending the middle daughter as opposed to the eldest. Izmir is 12 instead of nine, and has also seen two calves been born and raised instead of just one. By all accounts, she’s the much better equipped of the two to depart.

But alas, hopefully all goes well with the transfer, and a calf results from this union in the near future. Gabi is a very valuable bull.

The four Dublin elephants (Yasmin, Anak, Sanjay and Kabir) were transferred to Cincy on the weekend, and are living in the new elephant complex according to @sara in their respective threads.

Are the four Dublin elphants related to the existing trio at Cincinatti? I know Yasmin & Bernadhine were full sisters, if not was this place chosen because it had space for them? Just asking as it seems strange to move a family unit to a new home where 3 existing elephants live. Apologies if it's a stupid question just females are usually family orientated

They are only related to Schottzie who is the younger full sister to Irma

There is also an entirely new complex being constructed there meaning there is space for additional elephants. Cincy's cows are also all post reproductive so the additions of Yasmin and Anak will allow breeding with Cincy's valuable bull, Sabu.

His mother has one daughter. Staying with a proven bull. What is the situation of Ma Palai?

Thanks, thanks. Sorry for my mistake.
Hopes both daughters will breed in the near future.
How are the chances for Mai Palai??

What is the situation of Ma Palai?
At both Emmen (Radza) and Dierenrijk (Sibu), she stayed/stays with a proven bull. Yet, she has never got pregnant. I believe they no longer expect her to get pregnant either.

Is Ma Palai mating? And cycling?
