Ask and find

Too many possibilities as described; Pied Kingfisher? A Tern? A Gannet? A Shearwater? Even Brown Pelican.

Even in luck, Tetzoo Quizzer, you found it. It's pied kingfisher. With "flap" I tried to say that the bird was flying over water moving its wings continuously. But seemingly I should describe it better

In a temperate woodland area

"This shell is moving. What a luck; a snail. It's very large though. I think I look around for a bit"
Later...
"This rock is good for breaking the shell"

In a tropical forest

"Hey everyone, look what I found"
"A termite hill; at last some proteins"
"I will take this branch"
"I will take this for now"
"You there look sad. Why?
"Nothing. Just sometimes I wish we were good swimmers. This way, we could cross the river and see our little cousins"

In a grassland area

"The grass is too tall but I can hear something. It should be a small mammal; likely a mouse. Tap tap come one, get out of there. I should try harder. Tap, tap, tap...that's it; a mouse. I am going to grasp it quickly"

Somewhere in the desert

"How many days are we without water?"
"I suppose over than 40 days. Does anyone has lack of fat?"
"I wouldn't say so. I just hope to avoid predators, especially wolves"
"Wolves could only be near springs. In case of need, it's better to drink salty water"
